There are however, a few extra channels bolted on to this package that also make it very attractive to non-football fans. Every formula 1 race is shown live in High Definition. Wrestling fans also get High Definition coverage of their favourite tournaments and there's Sky News in HD and several other channels to satisfy the rest of the family.

Supplied by Satellite Cyprus for a one-off payment of €229 Euros or, the equivalent in any other currency - to be calculated on the day of installation and NO further monthly subscription charges.

Positioned at 7° West, the Nilesat satellite carries more than 600 television channels, both Free to Air and monthly subscription.

Most of the Free to Air satellite television channels are transmitted in Arabic, but there are twenty two or more channels that transmit exclusively with English audio.

The 22 English speaking Free to Air channels are listed in the left hand column.

In addition to these, there are several more Free to Air channels that carry English language programmes
regularly, but only at certain times of day for example, in the mornings or, evening.

There are also, many other Free to Air sports channels and sometimes, one or, more, of them may show some of the most popular sporting events with multiple choice audio, but usually, most have audio exclusively in Arabic.

The general concencus amongst English speaking viewers is that watching a sporting event with Arabic audio doesn't spoil their enjoyment for example, Wimbledon, Formula 1 racing or, a European football game.

More tech savvy viewers have been known to watch a sporting event on a channel with the Arabic audio turned down and use an alternative audio source, such as: a radio commentary streamed over the internet or, a free Skype call to a relative who positions their microphone next to a television/Radio that is running English commentary - ingenious !

A one off payment for the installation of the satellite dish, receiver, the cabling to your television (in one room)
and channel configuration, represents excellent value for money for the Free to Air satellite television system and other than the cost of installation of the equipment - €229 Euros, No other payment is due - there is no recurring
monthly fee to be paid !

This is a standalone, legal satellite television system that doesn't need to be connected to a telephone line, an internet connection or, need regular download and update of codecs.

Once installed and configured, your Nilesat Free to Air television system will work without freeze framing or, any down-time. The free channel line-up carries quality, up-to-date programming, funded by advertising revenue.

We usually install a 90cm satellite dish which provides the strongest possible connection to the satellite. This guarantees good reception at all times of year, including the winter months.

We have three types of installation bracket for the satellite dish. A ninety degree angle, face fix or, wall mount bracket; a ground fix vertical pole bracket and a ninety degree angle, pole fix bracket.

If possible, we install the coax cable inside any existing conduit, but sometimes this is just not possible and when
it is not, the cable will be fitted to the outside wall and pinned every 300mm. If we have to drill through the wall
to pass the cable through, the cable will be fitted and the hole will be filled with gap filler/sealant.

When installation of the equipment is complete, we don't stop there. Every receiver that we install is not only configured to receive the programming from the satellite, it is also configured with all the English speaking
channels saved in a list of favourites. We show you how the system works and we show you how to operate it.

If you do experience any difficulties whilst operating your satellite television system, we are available 7 days a week on the advertised telephone numbers. Usually, any problems can be sorted out with a quick telephone call, but if a service call is required, we guarantee to visit you within 24 hours of receiving your call.

Dish, LNB, Cabling:
Our installation procedure begins by getting rid of the equipment that you no longer need. This involves removing old dishes and cables and generally tidying up. Where brackets have been screwed into the roof or, a wall, we remove them and the fixings, fill the holes and paint over them with rubberised paint solution to stop water ingress. Our system only requires a single satellite dish and it doesn't need an internet connection to work. At your request, everything else can go ! Where possible, we always install the coax cable into the conduit within the walls of your property, but sometimes, if the conduit has been badly fitted and is blocked, it is just not possible to do this. Coax cable fitted to exterior walls is secured with cable clips every 300mm and drilled holes are filled with a suitable sealant.

Sky TV is available in Cyprus, but the group of satellites carrying the various signals are tightly focused on the UK, meaning that Cyprus only receives fringe reception - so, the size of dish that is required to receive the signal from the various satellites covering Cyprus, varies, and is determined firstly, by your absolute location in Cyprus, but there are also, many other factors involved.

Before we get into the list of free Sky channels ( Sky FTA Channels ) that are being transmitted from the various satellites in the group and are available in Cyprus, readers must take note: you will only receive 'some' of the channels (not 'all' of them) because some of them are transmitted from transponders that are transmitting a signal that is too weak to pick up in Cyprus and there's no guarantee that the Sky TV channels that you are able to receive, will work all the time - there can be signal outages (daily - periodically).

There are a number of problems with Sky reception in Cyprus. Heavy rain, or, moisture in the air, excessive cloud cover or, bad weather in general are all conditions that can cause signal outages, loss of reception, pixellation of the picture and intermittent service in Cyprus.

In addition to this, when the earth is turning around its axis, the wobble factor causes a shift of a few hundred miles in the signal footprint on the ground, which, at certain times of day, can cause a total loss of signal/reception - no service in Cyprus. Finally, strong winds can cause problems for very big satellite dishes and it may be necessary for them to need adjustment after very bad weather. There is no guarantee that the Sky channels that 'are' available in Cyprus will 'stay' available because periodically, the owners of the channels may move them onto different transponders which aren't able to be received in Cyprus and therefore, channels may suddenly disappear from the channel line-up.

For the purposes of this cost comparison, I am going to use costings based on a 4.2m satellite dish because this size will be do for all areas of Cyprus. So, let's analyse the costs involved:
